BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. — An early evening ride intended to be a straightforward trip for an Uber driver turned into a terrifying ordeal on the expressways of southern Florida. In a shocking incident, a 19-year-old passenger attacked the driver shortly after being picked up.
The attack was captured on dashcam footage, which showed the driver, 61-year-old Reuben Caraino, being struck multiple times from behind. This sudden aggression occurred while Caraino was en route from Deerfield Beach to Miami International Airport. Amid the chaos, he managed to steer the vehicle to the roadside, where his plight drew the attention of passing motorists.
Witnesses at the scene quickly rushed to Caraino’s aid, including an off-duty officer who intervened. The officer helped restrain the suspect, identified as Isaiah Norton, until Florida Highway Patrol arrived.
