Brave Victim of Domestic Abuse Leads to Arrest of Violent Attacker in Poole

Poole, Dorset – Dorset Police is urging victims of domestic abuse to speak out and seek help following a recent case in which a man was sentenced to over two years in jail for a violent attack on a woman in Poole. Daniel Bagwell, 43, of Poole, was convicted at Bournemouth Crown Court for charges of controlling coercive behavior and causing grievous bodily harm.

The incident took place on September 13, 2024, when Bagwell subjected the woman to a violent assault, punching her multiple times and threatening her with a knife before taking her belongings. The victim sustained serious injuries to her face, arms, chest, rib cage, and thigh, requiring hospital treatment and surgery for a fractured eye socket.

PC Jack Gibson of Dorset Police commended the victim for her bravery in supporting the investigation, ensuring that Bagwell was held accountable for his actions. Gibson emphasized the importance of victims coming forward to report abuse, reassuring them of the police’s commitment to conducting thorough investigations and supporting victims.
