During a news conference, Utah Governor Spencer Cox detailed how these messages were misinterpreted as communications from Robinson intended to instigate violence. However, Jud Hoffman, Discord’s vice president of trust and safety, clarified that the messages were actually exchanges between the roommate and a friend after the incident, which recounted information from a note left by Robinson.
