Florida woman breaks in and attacks her estranged daughter until her 8-year-old granddaughter stabs her to stop the attack

ORANGE PARK, FL – A harrowing incident unfolded Monday afternoon as a woman and her two young children narrowly escaped serious harm after an alleged attack at their home on Reese Avenue. The victim, whose identity has not been publicly released, reportedly faced a violent confrontation with her estranged biological mother.

Authorities say the ordeal began around 3:15 p.m., when the victim made an anguished 911 call. On the emergency line, she could be heard pleading for someone to leave her house, setting in motion a rapid response by Clay County deputies.

Upon arrival, deputies found blood on the sidewalk outside the home, immediately signaling the severity of the situation. After ensuring the safety of the children, officers began speaking with the shaken mother, who recounted the chilling moments leading up to their arrival.

According to investigators, the woman was at home with her children, ages 8 and younger, when her mother, Serpil Nebiye Adams, 62, arrived unexpectedly. Without invitation, Adams reportedly entered through an unlocked door and launched an attack using a serrated utility knife.

In a desperate struggle, the mother fought to protect herself, but the pivotal moment came when her eight-year-old daughter bravely intervened. Grabbing a kitchen knife, the girl managed to wound Adams in the upper arm, forcing her to retreat.

Blood traced from the house to a nearby vehicle helped deputies piece together the suspect’s flight from the scene. The car Adams used was later determined to belong to another woman, leading investigators to a home in Jacksonville, where Adams was apprehended without incident by local law enforcement.

Throughout the ordeal, neither the victim nor her children sustained serious injuries, a fact credited in large part to the quick-thinking and courage of the eight-year-old daughter. Deputies documented visible injuries and evidence at the scene, including the trail of blood leading from the house.

As the investigation continued, authorities provided the victim with a photograph of the suspect for identification. The victim confirmed Adams was her mother, according to official statements.

Adams was transported to the Clay County Jail and is currently held on a bond set at more than $500,000. She faces one count of second-degree attempted murder, and a judge has issued a no-contact order, barring Adams from any communication with the victim should she be released on bail.

Court records indicate Adams exercised her right to remain silent during police questioning and requested an attorney. She is scheduled to appear in court again on December 16.

Officials say the family is recovering from the ordeal, and additional safety measures are being implemented at their home. The case remains under active investigation.
