CINCINNATI — Six individuals are facing serious charges following a violent incident in Corryville that resulted in injuries to three victims. Prosecutor Connie Pillich announced the indictments, describing the event as a “violent attack” that occurred during the early hours of September 13.
The indicted individuals include Kenneth Bolin, 21, Austin Smith, 20, Joshua Ansteatt, 18, Hayley Hornsby, 18, Deontae Conyers, 19, and Brayden Hall, also 18. They have been charged with aggravated rioting and felonious assault, offenses that underline the severity of the incident, which witnesses say escalated quickly.
According to law enforcement, the three victims were returning home after ordering pizza when they encountered a large group on Short Vine. One member of the group inquired about their pizza, and after the victims declined to share, the situation turned aggressive. An assailant from the crowd reportedly struck one of the victims from behind, delivering two blows to the head that knocked him unconscious.
As the first victim fell to the ground, others in the group joined in, delivering kicks and punches. The victim suffered significant injuries, including a broken jaw and multiple bruises. Another male victim attempted to intervene and protect his friend, sustaining a dislocated jaw and a concussion in the process. A female companion of the two men also incurred facial injuries during the altercation.
In a statement about the indictments, Pillich emphasized the community’s right to feel safe and spoke against the prevalence of such random acts of violence. “I will not tolerate attacks against individuals simply enjoying a night out,” she said, stressing the commitment to prosecute offenders vigorously.
The charges carry serious options for punishment. If found guilty, each indicted person could face a maximum of 17.5 years in prison on felony counts, along with up to 180 days in jail for misdemeanor charges.
