Intruder Sought After Fatally Shooting Father in Arcadia Home

ARCADIA, Calif. – Authorities are currently searching for the suspect responsible for fatally shooting a 61-year-old father in his own home in Arcadia on Tuesday night. The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department detectives are leading the investigation into the tragic incident that occurred on the 50 block of Woodland Lane around 6:26 p.m., with support from the Arcadia Police Department.

Reports indicate that a woman and her 13-year-old child were confronted by an unknown individual who forced them inside the residence. The intruder proceeded to shoot the father in the stomach in a back room, leading to a call to 911 from the victim’s 13-year-old son who alerted authorities about the shooting. Despite being rushed to the hospital, the father succumbed to his injuries.

LASD Lieutenant Steve Dejong suggested that the attack might have been targeted, although the relationship between the assailant and the victim remains unclear. Law enforcement officials discovered various weapons inside the home, raising questions about their ownership and potential involvement in the tragic event.

Based on preliminary investigations, it is uncertain whether the weapons belonged to the suspect or the family. Dejong mentioned the possibility of the deceased male using a weapon in self-defense, emphasizing the ongoing efforts to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. Fortunately, the woman and teenager managed to escape unharmed, with no items reported missing from the residence.

As the search for the perpetrator continues, no arrests have been made in connection to the case.
