Indian Trail, N.C. — An investigation is underway in Union County following a shooting that claimed the life of a Taco Bell employee late Monday evening. The incident occurred around 8:45 p.m. at the fast-food restaurant located on Independence Boulevard, prompting a swift response from local law enforcement.
As detectives sift through evidence to unravel the circumstances behind this tragedy, community members grapple with the shock of experiencing violence in their neighborhood. “It’s very unsettling to see something like this happen here,” said Bradley Kern, a longtime resident of the area. He expressed disappointment, noting that such violent acts are rare in this historically safe community.
The Union County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies arrived to find clear signs of a shooting at the scene. They discovered that the suspect fled the location, though authorities have yet to release a description of the vehicle involved. “We are asking for the public’s help,” said Reid Helms, president of Union County Crimestoppers. “Any detail, no matter how small, could assist us in identifying the suspect.”
To assist in the investigation, Crimestoppers has announced a reward of $10,000 for information leading to the apprehension of the individual responsible. Helms underscored the gravity of the situation, calling it one of the most shocking incidents of violence the community has seen. “A person working in their own environment shouldn’t have to face such a threat,” he remarked.
