LA Fitness Sued for $1 Million by Tekashi 6ix9ine After Brutal Attack

Lake Worth, Florida – Rapper Tekashi6ix9ine has filed a lawsuit against LA Fitness for $1 million in damages, alleging that the gym failed to ensure his safety during a brutal attack at their Palm Beach County location in 2023.

The lawsuit, filed on Wednesday, names Fitness International LLC, the operator of LA Fitness, as the defendant. The incident took place on March 21, 2023, when the rapper, known offstage as Daniel Hernandez, was assaulted by three individuals in the locker room of the LA Fitness in Lake Worth. The attack resulted in severe injuries that required hospitalization.

According to the lawsuit, the plaintiff claims that LA Fitness should have been aware of the increased crime rates in the area, including instances of violent crime. The lawsuit argues that the defendant had a responsibility to implement proper security measures considering the prevalence of criminal activity in and around the gym.

Following the attack, viral cellphone footage circulated showing 6ix9ine being kicked by three men in the locker room. Another video captured him returning to the gym post-assault, barefoot and bloodied. Three individuals were arrested in connection with the incident, including a high-ranking member of the Latin Kings gang named Rafael Medina.

The lawsuit further states that Hernandez suffered a range of consequences as a result of the attack, including bodily injury, pain and suffering, medical expenses, and loss of income. The lawsuit suggests that these losses may be ongoing or permanent, impacting the rapper’s future.

NBC6 attempted to contact LA Fitness for a statement regarding the lawsuit, but the gym has yet to respond. The legal battle between Tekashi6ix9ine and LA Fitness continues, shedding light on the responsibilities of establishments to ensure the safety of their patrons.
