Miamisburg, Ohio – A suspect wanted in connection with a fatal shooting in Miamisburg has been apprehended after more than 12 hours following the incident. Demetrius Turner, 32, was found and arrested in West Carrollton around 12:16 p.m. The arrest came after a woman was found shot multiple times in a home on Golden Arrow Court in Miamisburg at 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The victim, identified as Leslie Ross, 52, of Dayton, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities began the search for Turner after the shooting, and he was eventually located by a couple who spotted him walking down the street and promptly called 911. Miamisburg Police Chief Mike Brem commended the couple for their quick actions, stating, “Without that, we wouldn’t have him in custody.”
According to Brem, Turner had some prior connection to the victim, Leslie Ross, within the past week or two. The investigation revealed that Turner was not present at the scene when police arrived, prompting an extensive search operation involving the Ohio State Highway Patrol, drones, K9 units, and officers from neighboring agencies.
After his arrest, Turner complained of chest pains and was taken to a local hospital for evaluation. He is expected to face a preliminary murder charge once released from the hospital and will be booked into the Montgomery County Jail. Additionally, police confirmed that the homeowner where the shooting took place was arrested on an unrelated felony drug warrant.
Authorities also released body camera footage of Turner’s arrest and stated that there had been a history of drug complaints at the residence. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, and further details may be revealed as the case develops.
