BIRMINGHAM, England — Mya Marsh and her brother Isaiah Marsh are facing sentencing this week after being convicted of the murder of 21-year-old Minister Enfrence in a shocking incident last year. The court heard that the siblings committed a brutal knife attack that left Enfrence with over 20 stab wounds in a residential area.
The siblings, aged 23 and 21, were found guilty after jurors reviewed CCTV footage showing the fatal assault in the Medway Grove neighborhood on November 5, 2022. Prosecutors described the attack, which occurred during a possible dispute over a damaged bicycle or a delay in purchasing cannabis, as “unprovoked and senseless.”
During the trial, the court viewed video evidence that illustrated the sequence of events leading to Enfrence’s death. Mya was seen handing a kitchen knife to Isaiah as they confronted the victim. Attempts by Isaiah to claim self-defense were met with skepticism, while Mya maintained her belief that her brother would not have used the knife.
Prosecutor Jennifer Josephs KC emphasized the familiarity between the three individuals, explaining that Mya and Isaiah had previous contact with Enfrence, referring to him as an “associate.” The prosecution argued that the attack was premeditated, as Mya armed herself before encountering the victim, who was unarmed at the time.
Mya’s actions following the incident drew further scrutiny. According to Josephs, she returned to work afterward as if nothing had happened, while Isaiah claimed to have lost his phone when he turned himself in to authorities. Both defendants denied charges of murder and manslaughter throughout their trial.
Following a deliberation of less than four hours, jurors unanimously convicted the Marsh siblings of murder. Judge Simon Drew KC has ordered both to remain in custody until their sentencing on Thursday. The case has drawn significant attention due to its violent nature and the young ages of those involved.
As their families await the outcome of the sentencing, the community remains shaken by the tragedy of a life lost in such a violent manner.
