NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE – Four individuals are currently in police custody in connection to a series of recent robberies targeting women in South Nashville. Following a tip-off, authorities were able to locate the suspects, leading to their arrest.
Detectives revealed that they tracked down a car linked to the robberies near Metroplex Drive in South Nashville. Upon spotting 35-year-old Michael Harris and 32-year-old Aubrey Whitworth, who fit the descriptions of the suspects, officers launched both a helicopter and ground units to apprehend them.
During the pursuit, Harris stopped the car to let Whitworth out, who attempted to flee on foot but was eventually captured. Harris continued driving into Rutherford County, where he was also apprehended with the assistance of the Sheriff’s Office. Both suspects were found carrying loaded firearms and unauthorized credit cards.
Additionally, two other individuals, 27-year-old Tatiana Barton and 54-year-old Ronald Thomas Junior, believed to have associations with the car involved in the robberies, were also taken into custody.
The community in south Nashville has been left on edge following a series of violent robberies targeting women in the area. Victims, ranging from 27 to 67 years of age, have reported being accosted by a man and woman who forcefully stole their belongings, often resorting to physical violence.
David Chambers, a regular patron at the Family Dollar establishment on Nolensville Pike where one of the attacks occurred, expressed concern over the rising incidents, highlighting the need for increased vigilance among residents to prevent further crimes.
One victim, a 62-year-old woman, was attacked while loading items into her vehicle, resulting in a struggle with the perpetrator who forcibly took her purse, causing her to sustain injuries. MNPD Crime Prevention Officer Michelle Norris emphasized the importance of remaining attentive, especially during the holiday season, to avoid becoming targets of such crimes.
Authorities suspect that the recent attack is linked to three previous incidents involving theft and assault on women in the vicinity. Police are urging the public to report any relevant information that could aid in identifying the suspects, who are believed to be traveling in an older white sedan.
As investigations continue and the community remains on high alert, residents are advised to prioritize safety and report any suspicious activities immediately to prevent further incidents.
