LIBERTY COUNTY, Texas — Authorities are actively searching for a man suspected in a shooting that left two people dead and four others injured early Sunday at a local sports bar. The incident occurred at Alas Locas, located near Cleveland, Texas, prompting a heightened police presence in the area.
Sheriff’s deputies in Liberty County have released images of the suspect, hoping the community can assist in locating him. Witnesses described a harrowing scene that unfolded in the early hours, shaking the small town and igniting fear among its residents.
Friends and family of the victims gathered near the bar on Monday, expressing their sorrow and disbelief over the tragedy. Yahaira Guadarrama, a close friend of those affected, shared her anger about the situation. “It’s hard to comprehend that something like this could happen to such kind-hearted individuals,” she said. Guadarrama was particularly distraught, acknowledging she had chosen different plans that night and could have been present had circumstances been different.
According to law enforcement officials, the suspect entered the bar, remained for about an hour, and then retrieved a firearm from his vehicle before opening fire both inside and on the patio. Following the shooting, deputies confirmed that one victim, who had been on life support, succumbed to injuries from the attack.
A family member of one of the deceased victims called for community support to bring attention to the case and aid in identifying the shooter. Out of respect for the grieving family, authorities have not released the victim’s name.
