Shooting Tragedy in Henrico Hotel Claims Life of 17-Year-Old, Two Arrested in Connection with Incident

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. — Authorities have taken two 18-year-old men into custody following a tragic shooting at a hotel in Henrico County that left a 17-year-old girl dead and another woman injured. The suspects, Kyre Omari Martin and Khalid Rashad Price, face second-degree murder charges linked to the incident, which unfolded in the early morning hours of December 6.

The victim has been identified by her family as Soniya Whiskey-Hull. They have set up a GoFundMe campaign to cover her funeral expenses, describing her as a “beloved family member” and “a beautiful soul” deeply cherished by friends and relatives.

Emergency responders arrived at the hotel complex on Dickens Road shortly after 1:35 a.m. upon receiving reports of the shooting. Inside room 922, they discovered Hull and another woman who had sustained injuries. Available security footage shows a sedan pulling up on a nearby side street, from which a man exited with a rifle. He reportedly approached the hotel and fired several rounds at the room where the victims were located.

Investigators retrieved shell casings from the scene and noted that the evidence collected, including bullets recovered from the hotel room, was consistent with the type of weapon used in the shooting. According to court filings, police claim Martin initially drove the vehicle involved in the shooting, while Price took over afterward. Specific motives leading to the gunfire remain unclear.

Sources familiar with the ongoing investigation indicated that detectives believe the victims were not explicitly targeted during the incident. The shock of Hull’s death has left her family devastated, as they grieve the loss of a daughter and sister who would have been celebrating her youth and vitality.

Both suspects had hearings scheduled in General District Court but will now appear in a different division focusing on juvenile and domestic relations matters. Future preliminary hearings have been slated for late February.

Authorities are urging anyone with information on the case to reach out to Detective K. Herbst at 804-501-4831. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Crime Stoppers at 804-780-1000 or via the P3 app.
