JACKSON, Miss. — Authorities have identified a woman killed in one of two shootings that investigators suspect are connected. Hinds County Sheriff and Jackson Police Chief Tyree Jones confirmed that the first incident occurred around 6:30 a.m. on Donaldson Drive near Grandview Circle. There, 24-year-old Latisha Carter was discovered shot to death in a home’s driveway.
Witnesses reported seeing a dark-colored SUV leaving the area approximately three hours prior to the shooting, prompting investigators to believe that the occupants of this vehicle may be tied to the incident. As officers were responding to the scene on Donaldson Drive, another shooting was reported just after 8 a.m. on Revere Street, located off McDowell and Terry roads. Thirty-six-year-old Krishawn Course was found deceased inside a residence, and another individual was transported to the hospital with injuries; however, their current condition remains unclear.
Sheriff Jones indicated a possible correlation between the two shootings. “There is a strong indication that these incidents could be related based on the timing and circumstances,” he said. Despite this, he emphasized that the investigation is ongoing, and authorities are still trying to determine a motive and identify the shooter or shooters involved.
Jones suggested that Carter’s death may be connected to a domestic situation, raising concerns about the implications of gun violence in the area. “It’s troubling when firearms are involved,” he noted. These shootings mark a grim milestone, representing the 58th and 59th homicides recorded in Jackson this year.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the shootings to reach out to the Jackson Police Department or Crime Stoppers. Investigators are keen to piece together the events surrounding these incidents to provide clarity and justice for the victims. The community’s safety remains a priority as officers explore leads and assess patterns in gun-related violence.
