Suspect Arrested in Deadly Pittsburg Shooting Incident

PITTSBURG, Kan. – Authorities in Pittsburg, Kansas confirmed Thursday that a man had been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting incident that occurred in the city.

The shooting took place around 11 p.m. at a residence on S. Elm Street, where emergency responders found a man with a gunshot wound. The victim, Fedor Lee Warren Lomax, 29, was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries.

Kevin J. Hukill, 25, was identified as the primary suspect in the investigation by law enforcement officials. After tracking him down to a residence on East Park Street, police initially encountered resistance from occupants. However, they later obtained a search warrant and successfully apprehended Hukill in the attic of the building with the help of a negotiator from the Pittsburg Police Department.

Hukill was taken into custody at 5:33 a.m. on multiple charges including 2nd degree murder, felony interference with law enforcement, illegal possession of a firearm, and an outstanding Crawford County arrest warrant for failure to appear. He is currently being held in the Crawford County Jail without bond.

The investigation into the incident is still ongoing, with authorities continuing to gather evidence and information related to the case.
