SCHERTZ, Texas – A man charged with multiple felonies remains behind bars in Guadalupe County following a series of violent incidents that rocked the quiet neighborhood on Feb. 25.
According to a report released by Schertz police, the chaos began when officers responded to a call at a home on Yucca Park early in the morning. Derrick Escobar, a 45-year-old military veteran, had allegedly attempted to forcibly enter his ex-wife’s residence, sparking a violent confrontation.
Escobar, who was reportedly experiencing hallucinations and mental health issues, was taken into custody by police for emergency treatment at a local hospital. However, just hours later, authorities received reports of shots being fired in the same area.
