KOPPEL, PA – A Pennsylvania man has been arrested after allegedly sending his neighbor disturbingly violent notes, leading police to suspect he might be a “potential serial killer.”
Nineteen-year-old Dylan Bish was taken into custody by the Koppel Borough Police on March 13 after a woman reported receiving threatening and graphic notes. Authorities say these communications revealed chilling intentions, describing in detail plans to “dismember” the neighbor’s body with a chainsaw and expressing both violent and sexual proclivities involving her remains. The note disturbingly claimed the writer had already murdered 20 women and warned the neighbor that she was next.
In an official statement, police disclosed that Bish’s unsettling fixations extended beyond mere letters. During an interrogation, Bish allegedly admitted to an unhealthy obsession with the woman and confessed he wouldn’t cease his fixation until she was “dead.” His statements were laced with vivid accounts of how he planned to carry out acts of dismemberment in the coming summer.
Bish reportedly divulged during police questioning that he was studying criminal justice and forensic science. His motivation, he allegedly confessed, was to gain insight into law enforcement procedures, including those of the FBI, to avoid detection.
The investigation revealed that Bish supposedly began leaving notes for the woman back in November of the previous year. The initial note was reportedly less explicit and seemingly an attempt to initiate contact, mentioning her by name and providing a phone number later traced back to Bish. The woman discovered this note at her residence and informed the police.
Details escalated with the subsequent note also delivered to her doorstep, which contained violent language. Documents revealed that it expressed desires for gruesome acts, such as dismembering her and consuming her brain. The note unnervingly mentioned details about her apartment decor, suggesting the writer had been watching her.
Alarmed by the contents, state police ramped up their investigation. Notably, a text message sent from Bish’s number on March 10 included intentions to make the woman his next victim, accompanied by a graphic video depicting extreme violence.
Officers, utilizing phone and digital communication records, identified Bish as the alleged author of these messages. During his police interview, Bish reportedly confessed to sending the notes but claimed he had never harmed anyone, attributing his actions to loneliness and a desire for friendship.
Police enforcement agencies involved in the investigation voiced relief at the suspect’s arrest, stating that the intervention may have thwarted a potential murder and possibly curtailed the emergence of a serial killer, given the heinous detail in Bish’s confessions.
Following his arrest, Bish was detained in Beaver County Jail under a $1 million bond. Before any potential release, a magistrate judge has mandated a mental health evaluation. Bish faces charges including stalking, making terroristic threats, and harassment. His preliminary hearing is slated for March 28.
