23-year-old charged in triple murder

SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – A fatal shooting incident on Monday in a Middlesex County condominium, New Jersey, has led to the arrest and charging of a 23-year-old man, identified as Om Brahmbhatt. Brahmbhatt is facing three counts of first-degree murder following the incident, which led to the death of three adults, two males and one female.

The tragic event took place at a residence on Coppola Drive, South Plainfield. Law enforcement officers responded to the scene around 9 a.m., discovering three individuals with gunshot wounds. The victims were later identified as Dilipkumar Brahmbhatt, 72, Bindu Brahmbhatt, 72, and Yashkumar Brahmbhatt, 38.

The elderly couple, Dilipkumar and Bindu, were pronounced dead at the scene. The third victim, Yashkumar, died after being transported to a nearby hospital. Brahmbhatt, the suspect, was found at the scene when officers arrived and was apprehended without resistance.

A Facebook post by Yashkumar’s wife described Dilipkumar and Bindu as her in-laws and asked for prayers for her late husband, with whom she had a 4-year-old son.

The nature of the relationship between Brahmbhatt and the victims, who all resided at the same address, is yet to be determined. The South Plainfield Police Department has reassured the public that there is no immediate danger. The motive behind the tragic incident is still under investigation.

According to police, Om is being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center pending a hearing on his detention. Aside from three murder counts, he also faces three counts of unlawfully possessing a weapon.
