LAKE CHARLES, LA – A Louisiana babysitter faces charges of first-degree murder following the death of a 3-month-old infant in her care, according to authorities. The tragic incident took place after the child’s mother returned home to find her son unresponsive, suffering from severe head injuries.
The mother, Symone Anderson, had entrusted Shirley L. Sawyer, 40, with babysitting her son, Kairo Anderson, on January 22. The incident unfolded over the course of just three hours. Upon returning to Sawyer’s residence, Anderson initially thought her son was sleeping. However, she soon discovered he was unresponsive and rushed him to the hospital.
During the investigation, authorities received reports from medical professionals indicating that Kairo’s injuries were consistent with assault and trauma. The infant had sustained multiple skull fractures and a massive brain bleed, leading medical experts to suspect intentional harm.
