FORT WORTH, TX – A pregnant woman and her mother are recovering from gunshot wounds after a violent attack inside their Fort Worth home, where the daughter’s three young children witnessed the harrowing assault, authorities said.
Sylvia Scott, who is expecting a child, returned home with her mother, Allura Stewart, on November 19, when the unimaginable occurred. According to police, an intruder was already inside—Scott’s former partner, Christopher Mike, 32. Investigators believe Mike forced entry through a back door and waited inside, launching an ambush when the women arrived.
Scott barely made it through the garage door when she was shot at close range. The bullet tore through her neck and exited her face, causing severe injury. Despite the trauma and the uncertainty surrounding her unborn baby’s fate, Scott survived, and her pregnancy was not lost in the attack.
Moments later, Stewart—who had just entered with her daughter—was also shot. Fearful for her grandchildren in the home, Stewart watched as the gunman moved deeper into the residence. Although the children were physically unharmed, the emotional scars linger, as family members reported ongoing nightmares and distress among the youngsters.
After the shooting, Scott managed to crawl to her vehicle and contact emergency services, even as she fought to stay conscious. Paramedics responded and transported both women to the hospital, where they continue to recover.
Authorities say Mike, who shared the home with Scott until their recent breakup, had exhibited threatening behavior prior to the assault. Scott indicated that she believed Mike was monitoring her whereabouts via an electronic device he had left behind, adding to the fear she has felt since ending the relationship.
The violent incident occurred just weeks after Scott decided to separate from Mike, citing past abuse. While the motive for the attack remains under investigation, police said the children in the household were not targeted, but were forced to witness the bloodshed as it unfolded.
Scott said the incident follows a pattern of troubling events, and she does not feel safe even after the suspect’s arrest. The aftermath has left her and her family struggling to regain a sense of normalcy as they deal with both the physical and psychological consequences.
Mike faces several serious charges, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, burglary, and kidnapping. He is being held in jail without bond and is due to appear in court in early January 2026.
Authorities continue to investigate, and the family hopes to heal after an ordeal that has changed their lives.
