MIAMI, FL – Tensions erupted in a northwest Miami apartment complex early Sunday after a woman allegedly stabbed the father of her child upon discovering his affair with her sister, authorities report.
Police arrived just after midnight on April 28, 2025, at a residence along NW 177th Street, following multiple reports of loud disturbances and suspected gunshots. According to law enforcement, officers arrived to find blood splatters on the entryway of a first-floor unit.
Efforts to communicate with the apartment’s occupants went unanswered. With growing concerns for the welfare of those inside, officers forced open the door and were met with a grisly scene—trails of blood leading through the living space.
Inside, they located a man suffering from numerous lacerations and abrasions. The injured individual, whose name has not been disclosed, told responding officers that Jaqueline Rodriguez, 41, attacked him during a violent altercation. He described Rodriguez as the mother of his child and explained that the incident erupted after she discovered his intimate relationship with her sister.
The confrontation reportedly turned physical, culminating in Rodriguez allegedly grabbing a knife and inflicting several cuts on the victim. Though shaken, the man declined to provide police with a sworn written statement, but officers documented his injuries and collected evidence for the investigation.
Based on the details provided by the victim, investigators believe Rodriguez’s actions may have been intended to cause severe harm or lasting injury. Medical assistance was provided at the scene for the victim’s wounds.
Rodriguez was arrested at approximately 1 a.m. Sunday, a short time after police arrived at the apartment. The probable cause affidavit states she is charged with aggravated battery resulting in great bodily harm, though questions remain as to why the arrest in this case did not occur sooner.
In addition to the recent stabbing allegations, Rodriguez is facing unrelated burglary and grand theft charges stemming from an incident three months before the stabbing. In that earlier case, she and a male accomplice allegedly made off with $14,000 in goods after a car accident.
As the latest investigation unfolded, Rodriguez was taken into custody and remains held without bond at Miami-Dade Corrections. No further details about court proceedings or potential legal representation for Rodriguez have been released publicly. Police have not commented on whether additional arrests may be made in connection with the violent incident.
