VINE GROVE, KY – A woman endured a harrowing attack just after midnight Saturday outside a Dollar General in Meade County, prompting a police investigation that ended with an arrest hours later.
According to authorities, the victim was with a man in a parked vehicle when a dispute erupted. During the altercation, the woman reported being strangled and then falling out of the vehicle, striking her head on the ground. Despite her injuries, she managed to call for help, and Kentucky State Police responded to her distress call shortly after midnight.
Officials described the woman’s injuries as minor but did not disclose further details about her condition, citing the ongoing investigation. After the assault, the suspect reportedly fled the scene, leaving the woman outside the store.
Investigators quickly launched a search for the suspect, identified as 48-year-old Donald Brown of Vine Grove. By tracing leads, law enforcement officers were able to locate Brown’s residence on Jennings Knob Road as the investigation unfolded overnight.
When troopers arrived at the Vine Grove address, Brown allegedly refused to cooperate or exit the home. Authorities secured both a search and arrest warrant, and after several hours, they apprehended Brown around 7:30 a.m. Saturday.
Brown was charged with first-degree strangulation in relation to domestic violence, as well as fourth-degree domestic assault for causing minor physical harm. Jail records indicate that he is being held without bond as of Sunday.
The exact relationship between the victim and Brown has not been disclosed by police, nor have they released updates about the woman’s recovery. Authorities have underscored that details remain limited due to the case’s active status.
Vine Grove, a community situated roughly 45 miles south of Louisville, has rarely seen an incident draw such attention. Local residents expressed shock over the attack, noting that the area is typically quiet.
So far, officials have not released information regarding Brown’s next court appearance as the legal process continues. Police are encouraging anyone with additional information to come forward while the investigation remains ongoing.
