NORTH CHARLESTON, SC – A South Carolina man, implicated in the murder of his brother, may have inadvertently ensnared himself with an ominously detailed to-do list discovered near the crime scene.
Charles Gordon Perry, 55, was taken into custody in December 2024 after his brother, David Perry, 51, was found dead from a gunshot wound inside a local warehouse. The police were drawn to Charles when he appeared at the crime scene expressing concern about his brother’s wellbeing. Officers noted suspicious “red spots” on his footwear, potentially indicating blood.
The violence unfolded at Carolina Sound Communications, a family-owned enterprise staffed by the Perry brothers and other relatives. Inside, investigators uncovered a handwritten note resembling a checklist. Details from this list reportedly included tasks such as “Kill Cameras” and “Burn clothes/Rag/Suit,” along with items like a “Gun” and “Hammer.”
A recent court document has propelled the case forward, requesting a sample of Perry’s handwriting to confirm a match to the note. A warehouse employee, familiar with Perry’s handwriting for years, has already identified the scrawl as his, supporting the prosecution’s case. Consequently, a judge has mandated Perry’s detainment without bond.
In Perry’s initial interaction with police on December 18, he acknowledged ownership of a backpack left near the crime scene, which contained a gun. He purported that he had not seen the weapon for a couple of days prior. Additionally, unexplained red stains were observed on his clothing during the meeting.
Compounding the case against Perry, officers noted that two hours of surveillance footage were unaccounted for, raising questions about attempts to evade detection or eliminate evidence.
As Perry awaits trial, he faces serious charges, including murder and possession of a firearm during a violent act. The prosecution continues to amass evidence, working to reconstruct the events leading up to the tragedy.
The community and family members remain in shock as the details of this familial betrayal unfold, hoping for justice to prevail in the courtroom.
