CLARKTON, NC – A North Carolina man who allegedly made a chilling call to 911 is now facing charges in the deaths of three individuals in a Clarkton home. Kevin Musser, 35, stands accused of first-degree murder following the tragic events on March 17.
Authorities responded to a distressing call around 7:30 p.m., which led them to a home situated approximately 50 miles west of Wilmington. Upon arrival, deputies were met by Musser, who was reportedly at the front door, clad in blood-stained clothes and holding a handgun. He quickly shut the door and attempted to flee through the back, where officers soon apprehended him.
Inside the residence, deputies made the grim discovery of three victims—Greg Dennis, 62, Randy Benton, 54, and Phillip Palmer, 32—tragically succumbed to multiple stab wounds.
Although Musser initially appeared to act as a witness, his role soon shifted from a person of interest to a suspect charged with murder the following day.
The 911 call that initially alerted authorities was traced back to Musser. During the exchange, the caller, identifying himself as “Randy,” described having been shot. Yet, conflicting accounts emerged during the call, as Musser mentioned the death of others in the home, eventually admitting, “Everyone’s dead.”
Although the details in the call suggested gunshot wounds, the sheriff’s office later confirmed that the victims died from stab wounds. In addition to the murder charges, Musser faces allegations of possessing methamphetamine and the theft of a victim’s wallet.
Musser, who sustained severe injuries himself, was airlifted to a local hospital for treatment. Following his recovery, law enforcement detained him in connection with the killings.
Court records indicate that he remains in custody and is scheduled to make another court appearance on April 3. As the Clarkton community grapples with the aftermath, investigators in Bladen County continue to piece together the sequence of events leading to this tragic incident.
