Belton, Texas — Rudy Youngblood, recognized for his starring role in the acclaimed film “Apocalypto,” was apprehended early Tuesday morning in connection with a domestic violence incident. Officers from the Belton Police Department encountered Youngblood while investigating a vehicle parked near a boat ramp at Lake Belton around 12:20 a.m.
During their interaction, police discovered that the Travis County Sheriff’s Office had issued a warrant for Youngblood’s arrest. Authorities alleged that he had assaulted a family or household member, specifically by hindering their ability to breathe or circulate blood, a serious charge that underscores the gravity of the situation.
In addition to the assault allegation, police reported finding a white crystalline substance on Youngblood at the time of his arrest. The actor is currently being held at the Bell County Jail, with additional charges possible depending on the outcome of laboratory tests on the substance.
Youngblood, who gained fame from Mel Gibson’s 2006 film, is facing significant legal challenges. This incident marks a notable development in his life, as it follows a prior arrest in 2017 for disorderly intoxication in Miami, a charge that was ultimately dismissed.
The actor’s recent legal troubles come in the wake of ongoing projects, including his lead role in the upcoming period drama “La Matadora,” which is in pre-production. Youngblood has also appeared in several projects in recent years, such as “The Haunting of Hell Hole Mine” and “Dandelion Season.”
He remains in custody on a bond set at $20,000. The situation continues to develop, and as of now, officials have not provided further details regarding potential charges related to the substance found during his arrest.
