Long Beach, California—A tragic incident unfolded on September 12 when a woman lost her life after being hit by a vehicle while crossing the street. The Long Beach Police Department has apprehended a suspect, identified as Eric Dewayne Moody, a 65-year-old man from Los Angeles, in connection with the fatal crash.
The collision occurred around 12:15 p.m. at the intersection of Long Beach Boulevard and 68th Street. Authorities report that the victim was within a marked crosswalk when she was struck by Moody driving a Chevrolet Camaro. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, she succumbed to her injuries shortly after arrival.
Initially, Moody fled the scene but returned approximately 40 minutes later where he was subsequently arrested. He faces charges of vehicular manslaughter and felony hit-and-run and is being held at the Long Beach City Jail with bail set at $50,000.
