Arrest Made After Violent Hospital Attack on Staten Island

NEW YORK CITY, NY – A man was taken into custody following a violent incident involving multiple hospital employees at a hospital in Staten Island on Sunday morning, authorities reported.

The suspect, identified as 19-year-old Devonte Loyce, was at the Richmond University Medical Center for an evaluation at approximately 4 a.m. when he allegedly wielded a knife and attacked three security guards. In addition to this, Loyce is accused of assaulting a nurse, biting an employee in the emergency room, and pushing an EMT.

Law enforcement officers who happened to be present at the hospital for unrelated matters intervened and successfully apprehended Loyce shortly after the incident unfolded.
