Thiruvananthapuram, India — In a troubling case that has captured public attention, police arrested advocate Beyline Das on May 15 in connection with the assault of his colleague, Shyamily Justin. The arrest took place near station Kadavu after authorities tracked Das using his vehicle.
The incident escalated from an earlier disagreement between two junior advocates at Das’s office. According to investigative reports, when Shyamily sought a resolution, she was reportedly attacked, suffering severe facial injuries. Following the assault, she was transported to Thiruvananthapuram General Hospital, where she is currently receiving medical treatment.
Beyline Das faces serious charges under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including non-bailable offenses related to assault and wrongful restraint. He allegedly fled the scene and evaded authorities for several days, turning off his mobile phone to avoid detection. However, police later confirmed sightings of him in multiple locations, including Poonthura and Kazhakkoottam.
The breakthrough in the investigation came when officers received a tip-off regarding Das’s whereabouts. A team from the District Anti-Narcotic Special Action Force, in collaboration with Thumba police, intercepted a red vehicle he was reportedly traveling in. Following this, Vanchiyoor police moved in and apprehended him.
Investigators later learned that Das had been staying at a friend’s residence in Pallithura and had also visited his familial home in Poonthura during his time in hiding. Although he had filed for anticipatory bail with a court hearing set for May 16, his arrest occurred before any legal proceedings could take place.
After his arrest, Das was presented to a magistrate and placed in judicial custody for 14 days. In the wake of the incident, Shyamily expressed her gratitude to law enforcement for their swift response. “I sincerely thank the police for their prompt action. I hope for justice through the legal system,” she stated in a media briefing.
