Arrest of Joliet Woman Sparks Controversy After Violent Gas Station Altercation

JOLIET, Ill. — A local woman was taken into custody early Monday morning after allegedly engaging in a violent altercation at a gas station, according to police reports. The incident unfolded at approximately 2:57 a.m. at the Speedway located on West Jefferson Street.

Police spokesperson Dwayne English detailed that officers arrived at the scene in response to reports of a fight. Upon their arrival, they discovered that a woman, identified as 23-year-old Miranda Duncan, was involved in an altercation with a store employee. Witnesses reported that Duncan allegedly grabbed the employee by the hair and dragged her through an aisle in the store.

Authorities later determined that Duncan and the victim were known to each other and that Duncan had previously expressed intentions to confront her at the store. Fortunately, the employee was unharmed during the incident, and no serious injuries were reported.

Following the altercation, officers arrested Duncan on charges of battery. She was transported to the Joliet Police Department for processing. Afterward, she was released on a notice to appear in court. The police department is urging anyone with additional information about the incident to come forward to assist with the ongoing investigation.
