Arrested: 17-Year-Old Linked to Fatal Round Rock Juneteenth Shooting

ROUND ROCK, Texas – A 17-year-old named Ricky Thompson III has been apprehended and charged with aggravated assault in connection with a tragic mass shooting at a Juneteenth celebration in Round Rock, Texas. The incident resulted in the deaths of two women and left 14 others injured. Despite Thompson’s arrest, law enforcement officials emphasize that the investigation is still ongoing, with efforts to locate additional suspects in progress.

Thompson, a resident of Manor, was taken into custody by the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force. Round Rock Police Chief Allen Banks revealed during a press conference that Thompson faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, categorized as a second-degree felony. Authorities noted that Thompson was not the sole shooter at the event, hinting at the existence of other suspects yet to be identified.

The violence unfolded at Old Settlers Park during a Juneteenth celebration attended by a large crowd when a confrontation between two groups escalated into gunfire. Tragically, two victims, Lyndsey Vicknair aged 33, and Angelia Duke aged 52, lost their lives in the shooting. In addition to the fatalities, 14 individuals sustained gunshot wounds and were promptly transported to nearby medical facilities for treatment.

Police stress the ongoing nature of the investigation, raising the possibility of upgraded charges against Thompson as more evidence is gathered. Chief Banks assured the community of their commitment to delivering justice to the affected families and victims, pledging to work diligently until the case is resolved satisfactorily.
