Arrests Made after Teen Victim Survives Knife and Bear Spray Attack on East Mountain

Hamilton, Ontario — A violent altercation on East Mountain has resulted in the hospitalization of a 15-year-old boy and the arrest of two local teenagers, raising concerns about public safety in the area. The incident unfolded late on January 21 and has since drawn significant attention from law enforcement.

Authorities were dispatched to East 14th Street around 8:45 p.m. in response to multiple reports of a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers encountered the injured teenager, who had been exposed to bear spray, and a man who had been threatened with a knife.

The victim had arrived in the neighborhood via rideshare to meet a friend. According to police, he was quickly surrounded by a group of males wielding knives and bear spray. The suspects reportedly sprayed the teen and pursued him as he attempted to evade them on foot.

In a desperate move, the victim sought refuge in a vehicle parked nearby, belonging to a resident engaged in snow removal. The assailants forced their way into the car and continued their aggressive actions against the teenager. When the vehicle’s owner intervened, he was met with threats from one of the attackers, who brandished a knife in front of the man’s family, including his wife and infant child.

Despite the threat to his safety, the vehicle’s owner stood his ground, which eventually led the suspects to flee the scene. Emergency medical personnel later transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment.

Following a thorough investigation, police apprehended two youths, aged 15 and 17, now facing charges that include uttering threats, administering a harmful substance, and assault with a weapon. Investigators have indicated that further charges may be forthcoming as inquiries into the incident continue.

Detectives are urging anyone with information related to the incident to reach out to Hamilton police, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in combating youth violence and ensuring the safety of residents.
