Hollywood, Florida – A 35-year-old man is now facing charges for attempted murder after an altercation at a busy intersection escalated dramatically, resulting in serious injuries to another man. The victim, a familiar figure in the community, remains in critical condition following the incident.
The violent confrontation occurred Wednesday morning around 8 a.m. at a crosswalk near Johnson Street and North State Road 7. Authorities reported that the suspect, identified as Enrique Santana, engaged in a heated argument with the victim, who is believed to be in his late 50s to early 60s. Eyewitnesses stated that the victim was cycling when Santana exited his vehicle, struck him with a metal object, and subsequently ran him over before fleeing the scene.
Witnesses described the victim, known locally as Miguel, as a kind and friendly presence in the neighborhood. “He’s like family to us,” said George Rodriguez, who works nearby. “He always greets everyone with a smile. It’s hard to believe something like this happened to him.” Rodriguez emphasized that regardless of the argument’s nature, there is no justification for violence, especially against an older individual.
