KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — Three relatives were taken into custody following an assault on a young man in Kampung Cheras Baru last Saturday, stemming from a family dispute. The incident occurred around 1:40 a.m. when the 22-year-old victim dropped off his girlfriend at her home, leading to a confrontation with her two older brothers.
According to Ampang Jaya District Police Chief ACP Khairul Anuar Khalid, the suspects, aged between 24 and 56, were apprehended by the police at approximately 4:30 p.m. the same day. In a statement, he detailed that during the altercation, one of the brothers assaulted the victim with a PVC pipe and punched him, resulting in a fractured nose. Following the attack, the victim sought medical attention at Ampang Hospital.
The uncle of the young woman involved also allegedly issued a death threat against the victim, warning him not to pursue a relationship with her again. The victim promptly reported the incident to the authorities at 4:50 a.m., which led to the swift arrest of all suspects and the confiscation of the weapon used in the assault.
Police records indicate that one of the brothers has a history of criminal activity. The three suspects are currently in custody, held for four days as investigations continue under Section 325 of the Malaysian Penal Code.
In a separate case, authorities reported the arrest of four men, including three foreign nationals, in connection with a road rage incident that occurred on November 14 in Bukit Ampang. The victims, a Pakistani national and his friends, were confronted at a traffic light by an aggressive individual who claimed to be affiliated with the Ministry of Defence.
The suspect and a group of roughly 25 other men allegedly surrounded the victims’ vehicle, leading to a physical altercation that left the Pakistani national injured and caused damage to their car. The apprehended suspects are being held for three to six days for further investigation under relevant sections of the Penal Code.
These incidents highlight ongoing concerns over street violence and public safety in the region, prompting community leaders to call for increased awareness and preventive measures. As investigations continue, police urge anyone with information to come forward to assist in creating a safer environment.
