Assault: Mancelona Man Arrested for Violent Gun Threats and Car Ramming Incident

A Mancelona, Michigan man is in custody after a series of disturbing events, including a violent assault, gun threats, and a car ramming incident involving his wife and children inside the vehicle, as reported by Michigan State Police. The suspect, identified as 42-year-old Nathan Stickney, faces multiple charges following the altercation that unfolded in Antrim County.

According to authorities, the chaos began when Stickney deliberately crashed his car into his wife’s vehicle multiple times during a confrontation at their residence. Subsequently, he allegedly assaulted his spouse in the presence of their children at their Cold Springs Township home. The situation escalated further when Stickney reportedly chased the children to a nearby relative’s house, only to return to his residence, obtain a loaded 50-caliber muzzle loader, and threaten a person through a window.

In a harrowing turn of events, Stickney forced his way into the neighboring home, brandishing the weapon and issuing threats of violence to an individual before ultimately fleeing the scene. A brave individual at the residence managed to fend off Stickney, albeit sustaining a serious hand injury in the process. Stickney then discharged the firearm before fleeing in his vehicle, evading law enforcement briefly before being apprehended following a brief struggle.

Stickney appeared in court last week on a litany of charges, including Assault with Intent to Murder, Home Invasion First Degree, and Felony Firearms. Currently held in Kalkaska County Jail on a $100,000 bond, Stickney is set to appear for his next court hearing on April 22, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by domestic disputes and the swift action required to protect individuals from harm.
