Mississauga, Ontario — A violent incident late Friday night has resulted in the death of a woman in her 50s and the detention of a male suspect, according to Peel Regional Police. Authorities responded to reports of an assault at a plaza located at 1310 Dundas Street East just before 8 p.m.
Upon arrival, police discovered the woman suffering from significant traumatic injuries, believed to have been inflicted by a weapon, possibly a bat or a similar object. Emergency medical personnel transported her to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Constable Tyler Bell confirmed that a man, also in his 50s, was apprehended following a brief foot chase.
