Assaulted Man in Critical Condition After Attack by Two Suspects in Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. – Two suspects, 18-year-old Raymond Mendoza and 19-year-old Ernest Oliver, were arrested by the Fresno Police Department after a violent attack in downtown Fresno early Friday morning. The incident left a 47-year-old man unresponsive with severe trauma to his head and upper body. The victim was found at the intersection of Mariposa and E Streets, and he was rushed to Community Regional Medical Center in critical but stable condition.

Police reviewed video footage from a nearby business, which showed the victim being assaulted by the two suspects. The attack involved the men punching and kicking the victim multiple times while also hitting him in the head and upper body with a large metal object. Detectives located Mendoza and Oliver at a nearby apartment complex, where they were taken into custody. The weapon used in the assault was also recovered by the officers.

Both Mendoza and Oliver have been booked into Fresno County Jail on charges of attempted murder.
