Bear Attack Survivor Recounts Terrifying Escape from Ferocious Attack in Pennsylvania

Butler Township, Pennsylvania – A woman is currently recovering in the hospital after a terrifying bear attack that took place early Tuesday morning. Lee Ann Galant found herself face to face with a large bear and her cubs after letting her dog out in the garden. The encounter quickly turned violent, leaving Galant with severe injuries.

Galant described the harrowing experience of being knocked to the ground by the bear, which proceeded to bite her on the back of her head. In a state of shock and fear, she believed that she was facing imminent death. Despite the intense pain and fear, Galant managed to escape with her life.

The bear’s attack left Galant with injuries that required extensive medical attention, including surgical staples to the back of her head, a broken nose, cuts inside her mouth, puncture wounds on her arm, and scratches. Fortunately, her dog, Smokie, was unharmed during the ordeal.

Authorities euthanized the adult bear following the attack, citing concerns of potential future aggression. The Game Commission speculated that the bear was likely defending her cubs and searching for food, with bird feeders in the garden being a possible attractant.

While recovering in the hospital, Galant expressed gratitude for surviving the traumatic incident and was already looking ahead to future plans, including an upcoming trip to Italy. Despite the physical and emotional toll of the attack, she remained optimistic and resilient, eager to move forward with her recovery process.
