BOCA RATON, FL – A Florida attorney was arrested after allegedly hitting a man with a dinner plate at a wedding reception, igniting a chaotic scene. The incident took place on January 18 at the Boca Lago Country Club during a wedding celebration.
The suspect, 52-year-old Mark Roher, initially chose to remain silent when questioned by authorities. However, he later demanded that charges also be filed against another individual, claiming he was attacked by multiple people.
“I want to press charges against him because out of the numerous people that beat me up, he’s the only one I could identify as kicking me,” Roher is seen saying in police body camera footage. Despite his accusations, Palm Beach County deputies did not agree with his claims and charged him with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
According to investigators, the confrontation began when Roher allegedly grew agitated after two young girls cut in line at the prime rib carving station. Roher is accused of confronting and yelling at one of the girls’ fathers, who dismissed the outburst. Authorities say Roher then struck him on the head with a dinner plate.
The situation quickly escalated into a large altercation among guests. Witnesses reported seeing Roher shove the victim and grab him by the collar before striking him. The plate purportedly shattered upon impact, corroborated by another attendee.
Footage from the arrest captures Roher voicing his displeasure as deputies escort him to their vehicle, handcuffed. He expressed concern about being publicly led away.
“I’m not parading you, sir,” a deputy reassured him. Their exchange underscores the chaos that erupted during what was meant to be a celebratory event.
Roher is scheduled to appear in court on February 20, court records indicate, where the case’s next steps will be determined.
