Hull, England – A former girlfriend of a Hull businessman, Lance Cator, revealed the harrowing details of a violent attack that left her physically and mentally devastated. The woman recounted being punched, kicked, and verbally abused by Cator at his penthouse, resulting in a broken nose, black eyes, and other injuries that required medical attention.
Cator, 54, pleaded guilty to assaulting the woman, causing actual bodily harm, and was subsequently sentenced to two years in prison. Initially facing a more severe charge of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, the charge was dropped, leading to his conviction.
The victim, a 46-year-old woman, shared that she had been in a relationship with Cator for three and a half years and had been residing with him at his penthouse. The incident occurred after Cator had been drinking with friends, and an argument ensued when the woman visited him at his pub.
Upon returning to the apartment, prosecutors stated that Cator criticized the woman’s ironing, leading to a confrontation where Cator verbally belittled her and destroyed his clothes with scissors. The altercation turned physical as Cator assaulted the woman by dragging her, punching and kicking her, and causing severe injuries.
The victim described the aftermath of the attack as debilitating, both physically and emotionally, requiring her to take a prolonged leave from work and seek therapy for the trauma she endured. She disclosed the extent of her injuries, including the need for nose surgery and ongoing dental issues resulting from the assault.
Cator’s defense claimed that he acted in self-defense during the altercation, alleging that the woman had threatened him. However, the woman refuted these claims, denying any aggressive behavior towards Cator. Despite Cator’s assertions that his alcohol consumption did not influence his actions, the prosecution painted a different picture of the events leading to the assault.
