Charlotte, North Carolina – Police departments in the area are expressing their support in the wake of a tragic incident that left four law enforcement officers dead while serving a warrant. The officers, including a deputy U.S. marshal, were fatally shot on Monday afternoon in east Charlotte.
Eight officers in total were shot during the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force’s attempt to serve the warrant. The officers injured included members of the task force, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officers, and officers from North Carolina’s Department of Adult Correction. The suspected shooter was later found dead.
