Crash Claims Life of D’Hanis Man, Leaves One Hospitalized in Medina County Accident

MEDINA COUNTY, Texas – A tragic accident on U.S. Highway 90 led to the death of a 55-year-old man, while another individual remains hospitalized following a collision involving two vehicles on Tuesday morning.

Authorities were alerted to the scene near mile marker 520 shortly after 11 a.m. The Texas Department of Public Safety reported that the driver of a Chevrolet Colorado attempted to change lanes, leading to an impact with a trailer attached to a Toyota Tundra.

The collision resulted in the Toyota driver, identified as Roberto Mares Jr. from D’Hanis, losing control of his vehicle, which subsequently rolled over. Tragically, Mares was pronounced dead at the scene by responding officials. A 54-year-old female passenger in Mares’ vehicle was transported to a medical facility in San Antonio for treatment.

The driver of the Chevrolet Colorado was unharmed in the incident. As of now, the investigation into the accident by the Texas Department of Public Safety is ongoing.

Traffic on the highway was temporarily disrupted as first responders cleared the scene. Local authorities are asking for any witnesses to come forward with information to assist in the investigation.
