Dog Attack Leaves Man in Critical Condition in Panama City Beach

PANAMA CITY BEACH, FL – An alarming incident shook up a quiet neighborhood as a man was rushed to the hospital following a vicious dog attack by his neighbor’s pit bull, named Gunner. The Bay County Sheriff’s Office was quick to respond to the distressing scene at 8115 Laird St. on Tuesday evening.

Authorities found Michael Fabjon Jr., 49, in critical condition, lying on the ground with severe injuries sustained from the aggressive dog. Pamela Dennis, 56, was administering CPR to Fabjon when deputies arrived, prompting them to take over life-saving measures, including CPR, before emergency medical services transported him to the hospital for further treatment.

Dennis recounted to deputies how the attack unfolded, explaining that a scuffle between Fabjon’s dog and Gunner erupted earlier, leading to Gunner fiercely attacking Fabjon when he reappeared after the initial altercation. Despite the efforts of onlookers to intervene, Gunner’s assault left Fabjon with injuries to his neck and throat, warranting his hospitalization.

The situation escalated further when the dog’s owner, Brendan Murphy, refused to cooperate with authorities trying to retrieve Gunner for assessment and containment. Subsequently, Murphy was arrested for hindering law enforcement procedures, shedding light on the dog’s history of aggression and territorial behavior.

As Fabjon remains in intensive care battling the aftermath of the brutal attack, questions arise regarding the circumstances that led to Gunner’s violent outburst. The peculiar dynamics between the neighboring dog owners and the events leading up to the incident paint a complex picture of a community rattled by unforeseen danger within their midst.

With ongoing investigations and legal proceedings looming, the community grapples with the repercussions of the dog attack, emphasizing the need for responsible pet ownership and vigilant measures to prevent such traumatic events from occurring in the future. The unsettling episode serves as a stark reminder of the importance of pet safety and community awareness in safeguarding against potential risks and harm.
