Phoenix, Arizona – A man in Phoenix, Arizona is recovering after a brutal and unprovoked attack that left him with severe injuries. The incident occurred when the victim, who remains unnamed, encountered a man identified as 39-year-old Daniel Lanks while walking down a street around 1 a.m. local time. Without warning, Lanks reportedly grabbed the victim from behind and violently ripped out his right eyeball.
According to reports, Lanks, who had been released from jail just two days prior, proceeded to assault the victim further by punching him before the victim managed to flee and seek help. Once the victim made it home, his girlfriend called 911, and first responders discovered that he had suffered a fractured jaw along with the horrific eye injury.
Law enforcement officials disclosed that upon arrival at the scene, the victim was found holding a towel over his face. After being instructed to remove the towel, it was revealed that the man’s eyeball was completely removed from its socket, hanging down his face.
