Fatally Shot Victim at Hertel Avenue Bar Identified by Buffalo Police

Buffalo, New York – A fatal shooting occurred early Tuesday morning during a disturbance at a Hertel Avenue bar, as reported by the Buffalo police. The incident took place at Del Denby Tavern, leading to the closure of the establishment by city authorities later that day.

The victim, a 46-year-old city resident whose identity has been withheld, was shot around 1:11 a.m. at the bar’s location on Hertel Avenue near Parkside Avenue. Despite being rushed to Erie County Medical Center by ambulance, the victim succumbed to their injuries.

Chief of Detectives Craig Macy emphasized during a news conference that the shooter and victim were acquainted, suggesting it was not a random act of violence.

Further investigations revealed that the altercation leading to the shooting had begun inside the bar before escalating outside onto the sidewalk. Surveillance footage from various cameras in the vicinity is being reviewed by detectives in hopes of identifying the culprit.
