PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The FBI is intensifying its efforts to aid in the investigation of a shooting incident at Brown University, according to Director Kash Patel, who announced the agency’s commitment to providing additional resources and support.
Patel stated that the FBI remains in a subordinate role while collaborating closely with local authorities in Providence. He emphasized the agency’s readiness to deploy more personnel and equipment to assist the investigation. “The FBI is determined to bring closure to this case and support the Providence Police Department,” he mentioned in a social media update.
As part of its ongoing efforts, the FBI has mobilized its Evidence Response Team to the university campus to examine the scene and gather critical information. In addition, its laboratory in Quantico is providing specialized assistance as investigators sift through evidence.
New images of a person of interest have been released to the public, alongside a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to the individual’s identification, arrest, and conviction. According to Patel, the urgency to locate this individual is paramount, and he implores the community to remain vigilant.
“Anyone with insights or information related to the case is urged to reach out to the FBI by calling 1-800-CALL-FBI or by contacting the Providence Police Department directly,” he said. Tips can also be submitted online at the FBI’s dedicated tips page.
Patel concluded with a heartfelt appeal for the community to support the victims and their families during this tragic time. “We ask that everyone keep Brown University, the victims of this incident, and their loved ones in their thoughts and prayers,” he stated.
As the investigation unfolds, the community’s cooperation remains essential to bringing the suspect to justice and ensuring safety on campus. The university community is coming together, grappling with the aftermath of the shooting while hoping for swift resolution and healing.
