DANIA BEACH, FL – A 15-year-old boy is facing a first-degree murder charge after authorities say he admitted to fatally shooting his older brother and disposing of his body in a canal, according to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident began to unfold Tuesday morning when deputies responded to a call about a body found near a canal in Dania Beach. Investigators soon identified the deceased as 23-year-old Kevin Dominique. An autopsy revealed he had been killed by multiple gunshot wounds.
Detectives traced the events back to the home Dominique shared with his mother and younger brother, Demetre Fleurimond. Details from the investigation indicate that Dominique was last seen alive on Sunday, and his absence from work on Monday prompted concern among family and colleagues. He was officially reported missing shortly after he failed to show up for his job.
According to investigators, Fleurimond admitted to shooting Dominique inside their home. Authorities say the teenager placed his brother’s body in Dominique’s vehicle and drove about a mile away to the canal, where he allegedly dumped the remains in an attempt to conceal the crime. The car was later found abandoned in the parking lot of a local library.
During questioning, Fleurimond allegedly confessed to the killing, authorities said. He was taken into custody Tuesday night and processed through the Juvenile Assessment Center in Broward County. He faces one count of first-degree murder with a firearm.
Family members have struggled to make sense of the tragedy. Marie Jeanty, the mother of both young men, shared that she spoke with Fleurimond following his arrest. She expressed belief that a disagreement between the brothers may have escalated, triggering the violence. Jeanty said she asked Fleurimond whether he had been abused by his older brother, but he denied any such mistreatment.
Court records indicate Fleurimond is being detained and is scheduled to appear before a judge later in the week.
The investigation into Dominique’s shooting is ongoing, with authorities continuing to collect evidence and interview witnesses. Deputies have not disclosed what may have motivated the alleged shooting, though family conversations suggest tensions may have existed in the household.
