Florida Woman Fatally Beaten by Impersonating Officer: Suspect Arrested

Orlando, Florida – A tragic incident unfolded in a Florida home when 85-year-old Lucy Pat Curl, the wife of Pastor Bill Curl, was brutally attacked and ultimately succumbed to her injuries in the hospital. The suspect, Ronald Davis, a convicted felon, pretended to be a community service officer to gain entry into the residence, where he proceeded to assault Curl in a violent manner on January 31.

According to reports from senior pastor David Uth of the First Baptist Church of Orlando, Davis forced his way into the home after Curl requested proof of identification. This led to a harrowing ordeal where Curl was physically assaulted, resulting in severe injuries that ultimately proved fatal on February 4. As Uth recounted the tragic event to the congregation, he described the attacker’s merciless actions and the devastating consequences it had on Curl and her family.

Following the assault, Curl managed to crawl to the couple’s vehicle and sound the horn for help. It was only when Pastor Bill Curl returned home hours later that he discovered his wife in a critical condition inside the vehicle and promptly called 911 for assistance. Subsequently, Davis was apprehended while sleeping in a shed a few miles away, with incriminating evidence linking him to the crime scene.

Initially facing charges of home invasion robbery, aggravated battery, and assault on an elderly person causing great bodily harm, Davis finds himself entangled in a legal battle with potential further charges pending. Having been released from prison in June 2024 after serving a lengthy sentence for prior offenses, Davis’s criminal history adds another layer of complexity to the tragic events surrounding Curl’s untimely demise.

Curl, a resilient cancer survivor, was known for her strength and grace, as evidenced by her family’s heartfelt statement following her passing. Despite the trauma inflicted by Davis, Pastor Bill Curl expressed his intention to forgive the perpetrator and not let his actions define him. The community mourns the loss of Curl, with a service planned to commemorate her life on February 16 at the Baptist Church of Orlando – a somber occasion to honor her memory and legacy.
