Fugitive Hunt Underway for William Wiley Elementary School Shooter as Search Intensifies for Suspect Elias Huizar

West Richland, Washington – Authorities are on the lookout for Elias Huizar, a suspect in the shooting at William Wiley Elementary School. According to an Amber Alert issued by the Washington State Patrol, Huizar is accused of killing his ex-wife and girlfriend and then abducting his one-year-old son, Roman Huizar. The alert indicates that Elias Huizar, 39, is driving a silver 2009 Toyota Corolla with a Washington license plate number CBZ4745 and may be headed to Mexico.

The West Richland Police Department reported that the shooting occurred at the elementary school as students were being released for the day. The suspect is also linked to the death of another woman at his residence and is facing charges for child rape from an incident in February, where he was due in court on the same day as the shooting.

Officials stressed that Huizar should be considered armed and dangerous, and the public is urged to contact 911 if they spot him. In a statement to NonStop Local, WRPD confirmed that Huizar, a former Yakima police officer, was previously charged with child rape in February. Court documents revealed that the allegations involved a possible sexual assault of a teenager, where Huizar’s underage girlfriend reportedly caught him assaulting her 16-year-old friend.

With a background in law enforcement spanning nearly nine years, Huizar’s past comes into question as authorities work to locate him and ensure the safety of the community. As the situation unfolds, updates will be provided to ensure the dissemination of accurate and timely information to the public.
