Gandhi Condemns Violent Attack on Congress Office by BJP Supporters

Ahmedabad, India – Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, condemned the “violent attack” on the Congress party’s office in Ahmedabad by unidentified individuals, believed to be associated with the Bajrang Dal. The incident occurred following remarks made by Gandhi during a discussion on the Motion of Thanks to the President’s address in the Lok Sabha.

Gandhi criticized the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the attack, stating that those who “spread violence and hatred do not understand the basic principles of Hinduism.” This statement came after clashes erupted between workers of the BJP and the Congress outside the Gujarat Congress headquarters in Ahmedabad.

The situation escalated as both party members engaged in violence, throwing stones at each other during a protest against Gandhi’s comments. As tensions rose, several workers and leaders from both parties were detained by the local authorities. The BJP accused Congress workers of initiating the violence, while Opposition leaders blamed BJP workers for instigating the clash.

In response to the incident, Gujarat Congress working president Himmatsinh Patel pointed fingers at the BJP, claiming that the attack on their office was a result of BJP workers’ frustration. Patel emphasized the need for maintaining law and order, asserting that such violent acts have no place in Gujarat.

Despite the confrontation, Gandhi remained firm in his stance, expressing confidence in the people of Gujarat to discern the truth. He highlighted the importance of non-violence in all religions and reiterated his belief that India would emerge victorious in Gujarat.

The incident underscored the deep-rooted political tensions in the region, shedding light on the ongoing clashes between the BJP and the Congress. As both parties continue to spar over ideological differences, the episode served as a stark reminder of the volatile nature of Indian politics. Authorities are currently investigating the matter to identify those responsible for the attack on the Congress office.
