Santa Clara, California – A Google employee has been charged with the murder of his wife after police discovered him covered in blood with her body nearby.
Liren Chen, 27, is accused of beating his wife, Xuanyi Yu, to death in their Santa Clara home. Police were called to the residence for a welfare check after an acquaintance expressed concern about the couple.
When officers arrived, they found Chen standing with blood spattered across his clothing and body, with his wife’s body nearby. Chen was taken into custody, and it was revealed that his wife had suffered severe blunt-force injuries to her head.
Chen, who has been a software engineer at Google for three years, faces the possibility of life in prison without parole if convicted. Meanwhile, a LinkedIn profile under Yu’s name indicates that she was also a software engineer at Google, previously working at Amazon.
